FIESTA CAL 2019 - yarn stats and introduction
I present to you my upcoming FIESTA CAL 2019!
My FIESTA crochet along will start in less than 2 weeks, on October 25th.This will be my second CAL, last year I did the HAVANA CAL which was such fun! so I'm excited for this one to start, and this time it's hosted in my own Facebook group, Tinna's Crochet Club, please join us there: (https://www.facebook.com/groups/TinnaCrochetClub/).
In FIESTA I'm again working with MOSAIC CROCHET and now it's all mosaic crochet in the round. The blanket is composed of big octagons and small squares & triangles, which are then all joined together to form the blanket. There are 3 types of flowery octagons and 3 types of the little squares, so it's quite versatile and I'm having loads of fun working on my FIESTA! And yes, I'm still working on mine. lol. But this IS a CROCHET ALONG, so the official party line is that obviously I should just be crocheting along with you guys, right!?
The CAL comes in 6 parts and will be available for purchase in my Ravelry and Etsy stores. It's a paid CAL but I'll do a 50% discount during the CAL, so it will be available for 5$ during the CAL and from December 1st it will be full price = 10$. I'll release new parts weekly, always on Friday so you can work on it over the weekend; 1st part on October 25th, 2nd part on November 1st, 3rd part on November 8th, 4th part on November 15th, 5th part on November 22nd and the 6th and final part on November 29th.
There will also be tutorials available for each part on my YouTube channel, and those will be free. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCLETbuS9Y_v1o2BpSjj-oA?view_as=subscriber)
There you can also find the first FIESTA video, where I tell you a bit about the idea behind my FIESTA and show you how I used my stash and organized my colors ... along with some general color tricks and guidance. There will be NO KITS available for this CAL, since I really want to encourage everybody to do some stash busting and to choose their own colors, I myself have never understood why people would possibly want to buy a kit with colors chosen by others! half the fun of crocheting is choosing your colors and yarn! ;-)
You will need at least 2 colors of yarn but can also just use a bunch of them (like me!) I recommend combining stash busting and then buying your main color to give the project a wholesome look ... I also bought a few extra bright colored skeins for my flowers, but I'm mainly using my stash! I explain this all in detail in the first FIESTA video.
YARN STATS FOR FIESTA
in the following tables you can find the breakdown of the yarn stats for FIESTA in 4 types of yarn: fingering weight, sport weight and DK, I'm using fingering weight for mine. All the info here are for the blanket in three sizes WITHOUT the border ... since I'm still working on that :-) I'll post the yarn stats for the border before I release the sixth and final part.
PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT THESE ARE ESTIMATES ACCORDING TO MY TESTERS YARN STATS, AND THE TOTAL AMOUNT COULD VARY A BIT ACCORDING TO YOUR GAUGE.
As you can see, here you have the total skein amounts for each size of the blanket for each color, but I've also broken it down to the amounts needed for main color, flower color and frame color for each piece. this way you can go rummage you stash and see what you've got before doing any shopping! I especially want to emphasize that the details in the center of the flowers take VERY little yarn, so you can use up all those tiny little scrap balls for those! and once you start planning your colors, I would absoloutely love to see some pics of you picks in the FB group! and if posting on Instagram, please use the hashtag #fiestacal.
Ok, so let the fun begin! and just as a final inspiration here I'd like to share with you Sue Collings' FIESTA wip, which she's working in Stylecraft special DK and is coming along just beautifully! my testers will be sharing their FIESTA pics on social media soon!
